What if my Apprentice leaves?

Sometimes, despite all best efforts, something changes that means it's no longer possible to support your Apprentice on their programme

We do understand that things change, some Apprenticeships are a long term commitment, and circumstances can naturally change within that timeframe.  As it's a 3 way contract though, we also have certain requirements we must meet to support our Apprentices so if your circumstances as an employer change to the extent that you can no longer retain them as a member of staff you must let us know as soon as you are able to.  The more notice you give us about what's going on, the more support we can provide, to you both, to ensure a smooth resolution.  If the Apprentice is still wanting to continue their programme, we can support them to find a new employer as long as we all act quickly, so it's important you do get in touch as early as possible.

We also understand that in some situations the relationship between yourself and the Apprentice may break down through no fault of your own.  While we hope that the involvement of those triparty reviews will help to spot any issues early, and mitigate impact for both you and your Apprentice to avoid longer term disengagement by either party, we are realistic that in some circumstances, just as with other employees, retaining an Apprentice can be untenable for your business.  If something should go seriously wrong, please ensure that you notify us as early as possible.  Even if there is legitimate reason for the termination of a contract of employment, you are still in training contract with us, so you must notify us if something changes as there are also certain processes we need to follow.  You can contact the team to notify us if this has happened to you; please be aware that we may need to come back to you to request additional details to ensure that any funding is stopped properly, and you are not liable for any further action.
